What is a cookie, really?

SchoolsCompass is sacred ground for admissions

We exist so parents can find the right school for their children โ€” calmly, honestly, and with zero pressure. Here's what that means for everyone who uses this platform.

In one line: Come here to find a school for your child. Don't come here to sell, recruit, harass, or spread anything untrue. That's it.
What SchoolsCompass is for
  • Discovering, comparing and shortlisting schools across Nigeria.
  • Reading verified parent reviews and asking schools real admissions questions.
  • Helping your child land in the school that fits them best.
What SchoolsCompass is not for
  1. Not for selling to schools. Vendors, suppliers, consultants and service providers may not use parent-side accounts, reviews, chat or contact forms to pitch products or services to schools. Use our Partner Portal instead.
  2. Not for job hunting. Do not contact schools through SchoolsCompass to apply for teaching, admin or any other roles. Apply directly through the school's own careers channel.
  3. Not for contacting staff personally. Messages must be about admissions for your own child or ward. Personal outreach to teachers, heads or staff for unrelated reasons is not allowed.
  4. Not for fake, vengeful or coordinated reviews. Reviews must reflect your real, first-hand experience as a parent or guardian. We remove fake reviews, paid reviews, retaliatory reviews and reviews written on behalf of competitors.
  5. Not for harassment, threats or unlawful content. No abuse, no doxxing, no sharing of children's private information, no defamatory claims, no illegal content. Ever.
Your account, your responsibility

Keep your login credentials private. You're responsible for everything posted from your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, and we cooperate fully with lawful requests from regulators and law enforcement.

Content & moderation

By posting reviews, photos or messages you grant SchoolsCompass a non-exclusive licence to display that content on the platform. Our moderators may edit for clarity, remove content that violates these terms, or request verification at any time. Schools cannot pay to hide or alter honest reviews.

If something goes wrong

SchoolsCompass aggregates information from schools, parents and public sources. We work hard to keep it accurate, but admissions decisions are yours. Always confirm fees, facilities and policies directly with the school before committing.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the platform grows. Material changes will be notified through your account or the homepage. Continued use after an update means you accept the new terms.

Your details belong to you โ€” not to advertisers, not to anyone

You're trusting us with information about your family while you choose a school. We take that seriously. Here's exactly what happens with your data on SchoolsCompass.

In one line: We collect only what's needed to help you find a school, we never sell your data, and you can delete your account at any time.
What we collect
  • Your account basics โ€” name, email, phone, password (encrypted). Optional: location and the age of the child you're searching for.
  • Your activity โ€” schools you save, compare, message or review. This powers your shortlist and your dashboard.
  • Technical signals โ€” device type, browser, IP address, and basic analytics so the site stays fast and safe.
What we will never do
  1. We will never sell your personal data to schools, advertisers, data brokers or third parties.
  2. We will never share your contact details with a school until you choose to message that school yourself.
  3. We will never publish your full name on a review unless you explicitly opted in on the review form.
  4. We will never spam you. You'll only hear from us about activity on your account or schools you asked to follow.
How schools see you

When you message a school through SchoolsCompass, they see the first name and the question you asked โ€” nothing more. Your phone number, email and address remain private unless you share them in the conversation.

Children's data

SchoolsCompass is for parents and guardians (18+). We do not knowingly collect data from children. Please do not include your child's full name, school ID number or photos in reviews or public messages.

Cookies & analytics

We use a small set of cookies to keep you logged in, remember your shortlist, and understand which pages help parents most. You can clear them anytime in your browser. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.

Your rights
  • Access โ€” download a copy of everything we hold about you.
  • Correct โ€” fix anything that's wrong in your profile or reviews.
  • Delete โ€” close your account and we will erase your personal data within 30 days (some moderation logs may be retained as legally required).
  • Object โ€” opt out of any non-essential processing at any time.

Reach us at privacy@schoolscompass.ng for any of the above. We respond within 5 working days.

Security

Passwords are hashed. Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS). Access to parent data is restricted to a small, vetted team. If a breach ever occurred, we would notify affected users and the NDPC within 72 hours, as required by the Nigeria Data Protection Act.
